Picture 8: Honeycomb catalyst

Honey comb catalysts exhibit a much higher mechanical stability and will therefore have a much longer lifetime. In this type the catalytic active substance is applied onto a ceramic comb which is much more difficult to prepare and hence much more expansive than a pellet catalyst. However, with this catalyst it is possible to create an apparatus which needs considerably less heating than the construction with the pellet catalyst.
